Job Overview
Harvey Roofing is inviting applications from suitably qualified, hardworking and reliable candidates for the position of General Assistant – Press in its Production Department in Brakpan, Gauteng.
The successful candidate will provide support to press machine operators and production teams to ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly and efficiently.
The role involves assisting with loading and offloading products, moving raw materials, monitoring production processes, maintaining quality standards and ensuring that the workplace remains clean and safe.
This opportunity is suitable for candidates who are physically fit, willing to work in a manufacturing environment and able to perform general production and warehouse duties.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum NQF Level 4–5 qualification.
- Grade 12 / Matric or Higher Certificate is essential.
- Knowledge of material grades and steel products will be an advantage.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment will be advantageous.
- Must be physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
- Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and overtime when required.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Ability to use measuring equipment.
- Basic understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Loading and offloading products on production lines.
- Supporting press operators and production teams.
- Identifying products that do not meet quality standards.
- Monitoring production processes and product quality.
- Reporting defective or non-conforming products.
- Moving raw materials, steel profiles and finished products.
- Stacking products according to the approved layout plan.
- Moving full and empty containers to designated areas.
- Recording production figures, downtime and wastage.
- Maintaining good housekeeping standards.
- Following workplace health and safety procedures.
- Conducting routine safety inspections.
- Reporting unsafe working conditions and activities.
- Assisting with general warehouse and production duties.
- Picking and pulling materials when required.
- Strapping materials safely.
- Sweeping and keeping the working area clean.
- Assisting other departments when necessary.
- Ensuring materials are stored safely and correctly.
