Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Cashier at its Carlswald stores in the Midrand region.
The successful candidates will be responsible for providing excellent customer service at the point of sale while ensuring that all customer transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
The role involves handling cash, processing card payments, assisting customers with purchases, managing refunds and ensuring that all transactions comply with company policies and procedures.
This is a permanent employment opportunity for candidates who have previous cashier experience and enjoy working with customers in a retail environment.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operating experience.
- Computer literate, including MS Office.
- Good numerical skills.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Basic customer service knowledge.
- Must be willing and able to work retail hours.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Clear criminal and credit records.
- Reliable transport or reside close to the store.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform the following duties:
- Welcome customers and provide professional customer service.
- Process customer purchases accurately.
- Receive cash, bank card, voucher and other accepted payments.
- Handle refunds and merchandise exchanges when authorised.
- Operate cash registers and maintain cash drawers.
- Ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
- Process customer loyalty and rewards cards.
- Handle daily cash takings responsibly.
- Ensure money is securely stored according to company procedures.
- Report customer complaints and compliments to management.
- Inform customers about current promotions and special offers.
- Ensure all outgoing stock is scanned and paid for.
- Follow company security policies and procedures.
- Report suspicious activities to management.
- Maintain a professional relationship with customers and colleagues.
