About the Position
The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for 15 Administration Clerk Level 5 positions at Tambo Memorial Hospital.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are organised, computer literate, and passionate about providing administrative support within a healthcare environment. Successful candidates will be responsible for patient administration, records management, cashier duties, and ensuring accurate capturing and maintenance of patient information while delivering professional service in line with the Batho Pele Principles.
Key Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be expected to:
- Perform patient administration duties according to departmental policies.
- Capture patient information accurately on electronic and manual systems.
- Register new patients and update existing patient records.
- Retrieve, file, and maintain patient records.
- Perform cashier duties, including collecting patient fees.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Handle patient valuables and belongings according to procedures.
- Complete relevant healthcare forms and registers accurately.
- Respond to telephone enquiries professionally.
- Ensure all patient information is correctly processed during system downtime.
- Comply with all departmental policies and procedures.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver quality customer service in line with Batho Pele Principles.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate / NQF Level 4.
- Computer literacy.
- Good communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Knowledge of the Batho Pele Principles.
Advantage:
- One (1) year’s Public Service experience in Patient Administration.
