Job Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced General Worker – Assistant to support truck drivers with the loading and offloading of trucks. This temporary fixed-term position is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal/SASOLBURG/WORCESTER/KHOMAKHAU MINE/MOBENI, and is suited to a reliable, physically capable and safety-conscious individual who can work effectively as part of a team.
The successful candidate will assist with the movement of goods during loading and offloading activities while also helping to maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment. The position includes cleaning duties, maintaining the surrounding environment, keeping walkways clear and reporting repairs or maintenance issues to building management.
Because the role involves physical work, applicants must be medically fit and comfortable with activities such as walking, bending, pushing, pulling and repetitive lifting throughout the working day. Candidates must also be able to handle heavy equipment and machinery used for cleaning.

Key Responsibilities
The General Worker will be responsible for:
- Assisting the truck driver with loading and/or offloading goods.
- Helping ensure loading and offloading activities are completed safely and efficiently.
- Keeping outside walkways clear and free from debris.
- Cleaning the entire premises as required.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and orderly environment.
- Notifying building management of repairs or maintenance issues that need attention.
- Handling cleaning equipment and machinery appropriately.
- Performing additional or ad hoc duties as required.
- Carrying out reasonable instructions provided by the Supervisor.
- Following all relevant workplace safety requirements and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4.
- Medically fit and physically capable of performing the duties.
- Reliable and responsible.
- Able to work safely and follow all safety requirements.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Clean criminal record.
- Must have own reliable transport to and from work.
- Able to handle heavy cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Able to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, including proper storage and disposal methods.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills.
- Self-motivated and able to identify and complete tasks without constant supervision.
- Able to follow reasonable instructions from a Supervisor.
