SANParks EPWP Programme 2026: 45 Skilled Environmental Monitor Positions Available at Kruger National Park

South African National Parks (SANParks) is inviting applications for 15 Skilled Environmental Monitor positions under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). The opportunities are based on offering unemployed South Africans an opportunity to gain valuable work experience while contributing to environmental conservation initiatives.

The positions are available on a fixed-term contract ending 31 March 2027 and offer a daily wage in accordance with EPWP rates.

About the Opportunity

Environmental Monitors play an important role in supporting conservation and environmental management activities within national parks. Successful candidates will assist with field monitoring, administrative functions, record keeping, and communication between operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Collecting and capturing field data accurately
  • Maintaining timesheets, logbooks, and administrative records
  • Assisting with payment schedules and documentation
  • Taking meeting minutes and maintaining filing systems
  • Supporting Biodiversity and Social Projects (BSP) administration duties
  • Assisting with procurement of Environmental Monitor uniforms
  • Liaising with Section Rangers, Head Office, and Duty Managers
  • Capturing overtime records for Environmental Monitors
  • Performing additional duties assigned by supervisors
  • Supporting environmental and conservation-related projects within the park

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
  • Minimum of 1 year administrative experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and one additional official language
  • Understanding of basic Occupational Health and Safety principles
  • Good physical health and fitness
  • No criminal record
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • Willingness to work overtime when required
  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate or proof of application for a Police Clearance Certificate
  • Successful completion of a medical fitness assessment if shortlisted
