About the Programme

AFGRI Farmer Development is inviting applications from students studying towards a National Diploma in Agriculture (Crop Production) or National Diploma in Agriculture (Irrigation Systems) who require Work Integrated Learning (WIL) to complete their qualification.

Successful candidates will gain practical workplace experience at Vastfontein Farm in Pretoria North while working alongside experienced agricultural professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a Work Integrated Learning project assigned by your Line Manager.
  • Gain practical work experience aligned with your qualification.
  • Support cross-functional teams with agricultural projects.
  • Perform additional duties to help achieve business objectives.
  • Develop practical skills and industry knowledge in crop production or irrigation systems.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be under the age of 35.
  • Be registered, or planning to register, for the final year of a National Diploma in Agriculture (Crop Production) or National Diploma in Agriculture (Irrigation Systems) during 2026.
  • Require Work Integrated Learning (WIL) as a compulsory part of completing the qualification.
  • Attach the following documents:
    • Academic record.
    • Official letter from the educational institution confirming that WIL is a compulsory requirement.
  • Have not worked full-time for more than one year in their field of study.
  • Be based in the city where the internship is offered (Pretoria).
  • Good academic results will be an added advantage.

Programme Duration

  • 12-month fixed-term internship.
  • Practical workplace experience in a professional agricultural environment.
