About the Opportunity
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Casual Cashier to join the team at its Galleria Mall store in Amanzimtoti. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers and has experience operating a till in a busy retail environment.
As a Casual Cashier, you will provide excellent customer service, process transactions accurately, manage cash responsibly, and ensure customers enjoy a world-class shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service at the point of sale.
- Process customer purchases accurately using the Dis-Chem operating system.
- Receive and process payments, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons.
- Process loyalty cards and rewards programmes.
- Handle customer exchanges and authorised returns.
- Maintain accurate cash handling procedures.
- Ensure cash is deposited safely according to company procedures.
- Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
- Stay informed about current promotions and special offers.
- Monitor and report suspicious behaviour.
- Ensure all stock is scanned and paid for correctly.
- Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain professionalism and accuracy throughout every transaction.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric).
Experience
- At least 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience.
Skills
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Good numerical skills.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Basic customer service skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Time management.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Honest, trustworthy, and reliable.
Advantageous
- Ability to speak a third additional language.
Special Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be willing and able to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Have reliable transport or live close to the Galleria store.
- Be a South African citizen.
- Have clear criminal and credit records.
