ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Curro Hillcrest Christian Academy is inviting applications from eligible young South Africans who are passionate about education and working with children. This YES Programme opportunity is ideal for individuals who want to gain practical experience in a school environment while developing their teaching and professional skills.
Successful candidates will assist educators in classrooms, support learners with their educational activities, and contribute to creating a positive and productive learning environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidates will assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and teaching materials. They will help learners remain focused, participate in classroom activities, and receive individual support when needed.
Other duties include assisting educators with marking, recording learner results, preparing photocopies and digital learning resources, and maintaining learner records. Candidates may also assist with extracurricular activities, school events, filing, and general administrative duties.
Participants will have opportunities to learn from experienced educators, receive mentorship, and develop essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation, and professionalism.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be South African youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Be previously unemployed.
- Have a qualification in Education, Early Childhood Development (ECD), or related studies.
- Have SACE registration, with provisional or conditional registration accepted.
- Live close to Curro Hillcrest Christian Academy.
- Demonstrate a passion for teaching and working with children.
- Have good communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
- Be energetic, reliable, responsible, patient, and willing to learn.
STIPEND AND CONTRACT DETAILS
The successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend ranging from R5,241 to R6,000. This is a stipend-based opportunity, not a permanent salaried position.
The appointment is for a 12-month contract, commencing in January 2027.
