Job Overview
Unicare is looking for a Sales Assistant to join the Front Shop Team at its 24-hour pharmacy in SchuinVilla, Gqeberha. This permanent position is suited to candidates who enjoy working with customers and have previous retail, sales or customer service experience.
The successful candidate will provide knowledgeable and professional assistance to customers on the shop floor while helping to maximise sales and build customer loyalty. The role involves assisting customers with product queries, maintaining merchandise displays, restocking shelves, monitoring expiry dates and supporting the receiving and unpacking of deliveries.
As the position is based in a 24-hour pharmacy, applicants must be comfortable working according to a roster that operates between 7:00am and 11:00pm daily, with the possibility of being required to work throughout the night. Flexibility and the ability to work different shifts are therefore important requirements.
The Sales Assistant will also work closely with other departments to support smooth store operations and ensure customers receive efficient service. Candidates should be friendly, reliable and able to remain professional when handling customer queries, even during busy periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers on the shop floor with product-related queries.
- Direct customers to the appropriate products or areas within the store.

- Monitor product expiry dates.
- Rotate stock appropriately to support effective stock management.

Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Grade 12 / Matric is essential.
- Maths at 50% and English at 50% are desirable.
Experience:
- Previous retail, sales or customer service experience in a customer-facing retail/FMCG environment is essential.
Candidates should have an understanding of retail operations and be comfortable interacting directly with customers.
Skills and Competencies
