1. JOB OVERVIEW
Sasol is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Driver based in Secunda, Mpumalanga.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation and timely delivery of people, packages and/or products while ensuring compliance with road safety regulations, company procedures and operational requirements.
This opportunity is suitable for candidates who have Grade 12, a valid Code EC1 (Code 14) driver’s licence and at least two years of experience operating EC1 and higher-category vehicles.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Transport people, packages and/or products safely and deliver them on time.
- Follow all applicable road safety regulations and company safety procedures.
- Correctly use vehicle safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct daily vehicle pre-trip inspections using the prescribed checklist.
- Ensure that the vehicle remains roadworthy and report any defects.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including refuelling, checking tyre pressure, topping up oil, changing tyres and checking wheel-nut torque.
- Follow instructions and ensure that daily activities are completed according to the work plan.
- Plan efficient routes, including routes with multiple delivery or collection points.
- Provide regular feedback to the supervisor regarding work progress.
- Attend safety meetings, morning meetings and toolbox talks.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents and deviations from schedules.
- Comply with government legislation, site requirements, operational procedures and company regulations.
- Report issues relating to defects, schedule changes and sample availability where applicable.
- Work effectively with colleagues, customers, supervisors and management.
- Support the team with daily operational activities.
- Attend required training courses and seminars to improve skills and competencies.
- Identify personal development needs and discuss them with the supervisor.
- Take accountability for assigned duties and ensure that deadlines are met.
- Support the goals and vision of the business through safe, efficient and responsible work practices.
3. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Valid Code EC1 (Code 14) driver’s licence.
- At least 2 years’ experience operating EC1 and higher-category vehicles.
Additional Advantage:
- A valid Dangerous Goods licence.
