Successful candidates will play an important role in supporting burial services, assisting with mortuary operations, preparing bodies, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring families receive respectful and dignified service throughout the funeral process.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:
Assisting with the removal of deceased persons.
Registering deceased details in the mortuary register.
Ensuring bodies are correctly labelled and recorded.
Washing and storing bodies according to mortuary procedures.
Ensuring bodies are stored in their allocated locations.
Assisting with the identification of bodies.
Cleaning and preparing bodies for autopsies.
Cleaning and maintaining the mortuary and viewing areas.
Sterilising autopsy equipment and preparing instruments for the pathologist.
Cleaning and sterilising instruments after autopsies.
Washing and preparing bodies before collection.
Coffining bodies according to company procedures.
Releasing bodies to authorised family members or representatives.
Providing updates to families when required.
Monitoring the mortuary and maintaining visitor registers.
Assisting with funeral grave preparation and hall decoration.
Installing lowering device machines at funeral sites.
Taking responsibility for company equipment and materials. Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have:
Grade 12 (Matric). Experience and Skills Required
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants should possess:
A minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in burial services, funeral services, or funeral planning.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
Compassion and empathy when dealing with grieving families.
The ability to remain calm while working with deceased persons, including severely injured or unidentifiable bodies.
Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, public holidays, overnight shifts, and when required by operational needs. Available Locations
