The role provides exposure to various cash-processing activities, including note sorting, desktop deposit processing, coin processing, bank-system integrated deposits, payroll and change transactions, and treasury-related duties.
Accuracy, attention to detail, honesty, and compliance are essential because the position involves handling cash, identifying discrepancies, checking deposits, and ensuring that all transactions are processed correctly. Candidates will also be expected to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and applicable quality and governance requirements.
This opportunity is specifically aimed at unemployed young people who have not previously participated in the National Certificate: Banking programme. Applicants must have Grade 12 with Mathematics or literacy and must be between 18 and 29 years old.
Key Responsibilities
The Cash Processor will assist with:
- Receiving customer cash deposits and updating applicable systems.
- Checking containers and bags for damage, tampering, or other irregularities.
- Preparing deposits accurately for note counting and processing.
- Sorting notes and processing deposits within required cut-off times.
- Identifying and handling rejected, counterfeit, dye-stained, or mutilated notes.
- Balancing cash deposits and reporting shortages or surpluses.
- Completing production sheets and required documentation.
- Performing daily cash reconciliations.
- Processing cash transfers to vaults.
- Processing desktop deposits and ensuring customer deposits remain separated.
- Processing and balancing coin deposits and teller coin transfers.
- Checking seals, denominations, bins, and related documentation.
- Clearing machine jams and reporting equipment faults.
- Processing bank-system integrated deposits and verifying account numbers.
- Escalating system downtime or delayed batches to the Team Controller.
- Processing payroll and change transactions according to required SLAs.
- Preparing and securing floats and related documentation.
- Assisting with packing and unpacking bank and ATM cash.
- Recording bag and seal numbers accurately.
- Maintaining equipment and reporting defects.
- Following all relevant SOPs and security procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Mathematics or literacy
- Must be 18–29 years old
- Must be unemployed
- Must not have previously participated in the National Certificate: Banking programme
