Job Description
The Care Home General Assistant Will provide housekeeping within the care home; provide adequate care to patients and support to family members and the public; kitchen & nutrition support; healthcare support; and administrative support
Salary Package and benefits offered are commensurate with the NPO industry.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Cooking and preparing meals, cleaning of Care Home, assessing patient wellbeing
- Ensure that care is provided according to CANSA policies, procedures and regulations.
- Monitor vital signs and possible side effects of treatment and report to TLC Coordinator
- Maintain the patient reporting system accurately, consistently and confidentially
- Provide patients with basic information about Care home, the Care Clinic services and how to access required resources
- Maintain good infection control practises and a high standard of personal hygiene
- Prepare three balanced meals per day in line with approved menus and dietary requirements of patients.
- Interact with stakeholders, clients and patient families
- Complete intake forms and all other required administration functions
- Endeavour to solve patient problems and report and refer according to guidelines
Qualifications and Requirements
- Grade 12
- Previous experience in a care home, healthcare, hospitality, or support environment will be advantageous
- Relevant caregiving or healthcare-related training/certification will be beneficial
- Good housekeeping and food preparation skills
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen to patients and clearly verbalise information ·
- Compassionate and caring approach towards patients and the public
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Non-Smoker
