Job Overview
Hollywoodbets is looking for a Bartender to join its Purple Team in Osizweni, Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity within the Operations team and is suited to candidates with experience in the service industry who enjoy working with customers in a busy and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages, snacks and/or food to customers or punters, either directly or through waitrons. The role also involves maintaining a clean and organised service area, managing stock, processing customer orders and payments, and ensuring that customers receive professional and efficient service.
As a customer-facing position, the Bartender will represent the Hollywoodbets brand and is expected to maintain a professional appearance, communicate respectfully with customers and contribute to a positive service experience.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing and serving beverages, snacks and food orders efficiently.
- Welcoming customers and providing friendly, professional service.
- Presenting menus and answering questions about food and beverage items.
- Advising customers about specials and making suitable recommendations.
- Promoting food and beverage products where appropriate.
- Taking customer orders promptly and accurately.
- Checking identification where necessary to confirm that customers meet minimum age requirements for alcoholic beverages.
- Recording orders correctly and entering them onto the GAAP POS system.
- Following up with the kitchen regarding delayed food or snack orders.
- Keeping customers informed about order delays.
- Handling customer complaints professionally and recording complaints in the appropriate log.
- Accepting cash and card payments and ensuring payments are correctly recorded.
- Reconciling sales and cash/card payments to ensure that all money is accounted for.
- Ensuring that shortages, breakages and wastage are reported appropriately.
- Maintaining accurate stock records and completing stock counts.
- Preparing stock requisitions according to expected demand, busy periods and events.
- Receiving stock and ensuring opening stock is correctly recorded.
- Keeping fridges adequately stocked and ensuring proper stock rotation.
- Checking the float before opening and reporting discrepancies to the F&B Supervisor.
- Cleaning and maintaining glasses, utensils, bar equipment and service areas.
- Ensuring condiments, water, ice, napkins, straws and other service items are replenished.
- Keeping the bar and service areas neat and tidy throughout the shift.
- Preparing the service area for the next shift.
- Following all internal procedures and completing additional duties when required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Experience in the service industry.
- Customer-service experience.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A professional and presentable appearance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to handle cash and customer transactions responsibly.
- Willingness to work according to a roster and operational requirements.
Advantageous Experience
The following will be beneficial:
- Experience using a POS system.
- Experience with the GAAP system or similar point-of-sale software.
- Exposure to stock management.
- Previous bartending, food-service or hospitality experience.
