About the Opportunity

SANParks is seeking a reliable and hardworking General Worker to support tourism and hospitality operations within Agulhas National Park. The successful candidate will perform cleaning, laundry, and general maintenance duties while helping create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for park visitors.

Reporting to the Duty Manager, you will play an important role in maintaining guest accommodation, public facilities, picnic areas, and other visitor amenities.

Please note that successful applicants will need to arrange their own accommodation, as official staff accommodation is not available within the park.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric), NCV Level 4, or an equivalent qualification
  • One to two years of General Worker experience in a tourism or hospitality environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures
  • Ability to safely use cleaning tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Physical fitness to perform manual duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and shifts

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning and maintaining guest accommodation
  • Changing bed linen and managing laundry services
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing furniture, and emptying waste bins
  • Cleaning ablution facilities, picnic sites, viewpoints, braai areas, and visitor facilities
  • Providing professional customer service to park visitors
  • Managing linen collection, sorting, and delivery
  • Using cleaning materials responsibly while maintaining hygiene standards
  • Assisting with minor maintenance and repairs to buildings, roads, and infrastructure
  • Removing refuse and reporting maintenance defects
  • Following health and safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Assisting with guided walks, educational activities, and event setup when required
  • Conducting daily facility inspections
  • Assisting with stock and inventory control for guest amenities and cleaning supplies
