About the Internship
The successful candidate will work closely with the SHER team and assist with the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of health, safety, environmental, and risk management systems.
This internship is designed to provide practical industry experience and exposure to workplace safety systems, compliance processes, audits, inspections, and risk management activities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful intern will assist with:
- Supporting the maintenance and improvement of ISO 45001 Management Systems.
- Monitoring and implementing health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Conducting routine safety inspections and compliance audits.
- Identifying areas of non-compliance and assisting with corrective action plans.
- Performing planned and unplanned workplace safety inspections.
- Compiling safety inspection reports.
- Ensuring fire extinguishers and first aid boxes remain compliant and accessible.
- Conducting and reviewing workplace risk assessments.
- Assisting with weekly and monthly SHER reporting.
- Scheduling and participating in emergency response drills.
- Gathering information for incident investigations.
- Updating health and safety noticeboards.
- Attending statutory health and safety meetings.
- Taking and compiling meeting minutes.
- Assisting with corrective and preventative action (CAPA) processes.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Work Integrated Learning (WIL) letter from their educational institution.
- Certified copy of South African ID.
- Certified copies of academic qualifications.
- Learner agreement documentation.
