Job Overview
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Department of Social Development is offering two Personal Assistant Internship opportunities at its Head Office. This programme is aimed at unemployed graduates who are looking to gain practical workplace experience in administration, office management and personal assistant functions.
The internship provides an opportunity for suitably qualified graduates to apply their academic knowledge within a government working environment while developing valuable administrative and professional skills. Successful candidates will support Personal Assistant functions and gain exposure to the day-to-day activities associated with providing administrative and organisational support.
The opportunity is particularly suitable for graduates who have completed studies in Management Assistant, Office Management and Technology, or Administrative Management and are seeking practical experience to strengthen their CVs and improve their future employment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful interns will be involved in Personal Assistant-related duties within the Department of Social Development.
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing administrative and organisational support to the relevant office.
- Assisting with Personal Assistant functions and daily office activities.
- Supporting the coordination of administrative tasks.
- Assisting with communication and general office correspondence.
- Supporting diary, meeting and scheduling-related activities where required.
- Maintaining organised records and documentation.
- Assisting with routine office administration.
- Using computer systems and office applications to complete assigned tasks.
- Following departmental procedures and instructions.
- Supporting officials with other reasonable administrative duties related to the internship.
The programme is intended to provide graduates with practical workplace exposure and an understanding of how administrative and personal assistant functions operate within the public sector.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A completed tertiary qualification in Management Assistant, Office Management and Technology, or Administrative Management.
- The qualification must be certificated through graduation.
- Applicants must hold at least a three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National/Advanced Diploma from a recognised University, University of Technology or College.
- Applicants must be unemployed graduates residing in KwaZulu-Natal.
- Applicants must never have participated in an internship programme within National, Provincial or Local Government.
- Candidates must be computer literate.
- Candidates must be prepared to undergo a technical assessment and structured interview.
- Successful candidates must be prepared to relocate to the relevant office at their own cost, if required.
Important Graduate Eligibility
This opportunity is specifically intended for unemployed graduates. Applicants must have completed their qualification and be able to provide evidence of graduation when requested.
Candidates who have previously participated in an internship programme within National, Provincial or Local Government are not eligible according to the advert.
Computer literacy is also required, as the successful candidates will be expected to work within a professional administrative environment and use relevant office technology.
Employment Details
The internship is based at the KZN Social Development Head Office and offers two available posts. Successful candidates will receive a stipend of R8,172.
