JOB OVERVIEW
Libstar, under its Lancewood Division, is inviting suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for General Worker vacancies within its Production and Distribution Departments in Cape Town.
The successful candidates will be responsible for performing general factory duties, including cleaning, packing, stacking, moving products and materials, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the production and distribution areas.
This opportunity is suitable for hardworking, responsible and reliable individuals who can work in a manufacturing environment and follow workplace safety and hygiene procedures.
IMPORTANT: Only candidates residing in the Cape Flats will be considered for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidates will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Clean production workspaces, equipment, floors, walls, windows and other assigned areas.
- Maintain cleanliness in factory toilets, changing rooms and ablution facilities.
- Pack, stack and move materials and finished products as instructed by supervisors.
- Inspect finished products and check production dates, sell-by dates and use-by dates.
- Move finished products into cold storage using trolleys.
- Ensure that products remain within the required cold-chain conditions.
- Move and load trolleys and products onto transfer vehicles.
- Assist with loading and unloading activities in the loading bay.
- Ensure that trolleys contain the correct products and barcodes.
- Clean factory equipment according to company cleaning policies.
- Remove waste packaging materials and foreign objects from production areas.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the department.
- Wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety boots or gumboots.
- Follow hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.
- Report accidents, injuries, damaged equipment and unsafe conditions to supervisors.
- Report product losses and packaging shortages immediately.
- Follow company policies, procedures and safety regulations.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Ability to understand, speak and write English.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Good understanding of workplace hygiene and safety.
- Must be in good health and able to perform general production duties.
WORK EXPERIENCE
The following experience and knowledge are required:
- At least 1 year’s experience in a production environment.
- At least 1 year’s experience in an FMCG stores environment.
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) will be beneficial.
