SALARY
- Salary Scale: R486,840 – R676,164 per annum.

JOB PURPOSE
The City of Tshwane is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for four Social Worker positions.
The successful candidates will be responsible for providing comprehensive, professional and developmental social work services to communities across Tshwane.
The main purpose of the position is to improve the well-being of individuals, families and communities through professional social work interventions, counselling, community development initiatives and sustainable support programmes.
The successful candidates will work with vulnerable individuals and communities, identify social challenges and help connect people with the necessary resources and support services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidates will perform the following duties:
- Provide counselling and therapeutic services to clients experiencing social problems.
- Deliver sustainable community development services.
- Identify the needs of different community groups.
- Organise community focus groups based on identified needs.
- Work with vulnerable groups, including orphaned children, abused women, teenage mothers and poverty-stricken families.
- Connect community groups with relevant resources and support services.
- Provide communities with important information through workshops, seminars, campaigns and conferences.
- Coordinate and facilitate projects and programmes that address community needs.
- Provide crisis intervention services to individuals and families requiring urgent assistance.
- Perform administrative duties related to social work services and programmes.
- Promote community development through professional social work practices.
- Support initiatives aimed at improving the social well-being of Tshwane communities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor of Social Work degree.
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- At least 3 years’ relevant working experience in a social work environment.
- Valid Code B driver’s licence.
- Computer literacy.
- Knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
- Applicants must undergo a criminal record check.
- Successful candidates must allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at their own cost.
