Icebolethu Group is looking for 6 vigilant, professional and responsible Security Officers to join its team in East London.
The successful candidates will be responsible for protecting the company’s premises, employees, visitors, assets and equipment. Security Officers will maintain a strong security presence, monitor activities, conduct patrols, control access and respond to security incidents.
Applicants should be physically fit, observant and able to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
The successful candidate will:
- Monitor and control access to the premises.
- Authorise entry and exit of visitors and vehicles.
- Conduct regular foot patrols.
- Monitor the premises for suspicious activity.
- Ensure doors, windows and exits are properly secured after operations.
- Maintain a visible security presence.
- Help prevent theft, vandalism and unauthorised access.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor CCTV systems.
- Operate security communication equipment.
- Identify potential security breaches.
- Monitor suspicious behaviour and activities.
- Report disruptions or unlawful acts.
- Take appropriate action when security risks are identified.
- Maintain awareness of activities taking place on the premises.
Security Officers will be expected to:
- Respond quickly to alarms and security incidents.
- Investigate suspicious individuals or activities.
- Assist people who may be in distress.
- Handle security situations calmly and professionally.
- Take appropriate action in accordance with company procedures and applicable laws.
- Contact law enforcement when required.
- Assist with maintaining safety during emergencies.
The successful candidate may be required to:
- Remove trespassers from the premises.
- Detain perpetrators where legally permitted.
- Follow appropriate legal and security protocols.
- Hand over suspects to law enforcement where required.
- Ensure security incidents are handled professionally and responsibly.
The Security Officer will also be responsible for:
- Maintaining daily security and surveillance logs.
- Recording occurrences accurately.
- Writing clear and detailed incident reports.
- Reporting security concerns to management.
- Keeping relevant security documentation up to date.
- Providing accurate information regarding incidents and observations.
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Valid PSIRA registration/certification.
- Minimum 2 years’ proven experience as a Security Guard or Security Officer.
- Practical experience operating CCTV and surveillance systems.
- Experience using security communication equipment.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Strong observation skills.
- Good report-writing abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant security and public safety procedures.
- Good physical fitness.
The following are required or advantageous:
- Certification in Self-Defense.
- First Aid / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid Firearm Competency for a handgun, shotgun or rifle would be advantageous.
- Advanced or defensive driving skills would be advantageous.
