Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Basic computer literacy
- Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- SAP systems
- Previous retail experience
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service
The Retail Store Assistant will:
- Assist customers with enquiries and complaints professionally
- Resolve customer stock queries quickly
- Maintain positive customer relationships
- Direct customers to the correct departments when needed
- Ensure high customer service standards are maintained
Cash and Transaction Management
Responsibilities include:
- Handling refunds and returns accurately
- Managing floats, petty cash, and cash on hand
- Controlling shorts and overs at point of sale
- Preparing daily reconciliations
- Ensuring sufficient branch change for cashiers
Stock Control and Administration
The successful candidate will also:
- Assist with stock control and high-risk stock management
- Process returned goods correctly
- Verify deliveries and invoices
- Support the Receiving Manager with Distribution Centre claims
- Maintain proper filing and document control systems
Communication and Coordination
Additional duties include:
- Maintaining good communication with customers and staff
- Liaising with departments regarding operational issues
- Providing customer feedback when required
